Music programs
Elanora Heights Public School has a small but growing music program which includes our School Choir as well as Music Ensembles. We value the arts and firmly believe in the importance of music in the curriculum. There are many wonderful reasons to join the Choir, School Band and Strings programs. Your child will have the opportunity to learn a skill that can be used for the rest of their lives whilst also gaining confidence through public performance.
Being part of a music ensemble provides numerous benefits and opportunities. Not only will your child learn to play their instrument with their friends, they will also learn the skills of concentration, perseverance and self‐discipline. Studies have shown that learning to play an instrument enhances students' performance in math, language, arts, foreign language and other academic areas.
The 3-6 Choir and Band & Strings ensembles perform at school events such as Open Day and at assemblies, as well as performing at the Festival of Instrumental Music, Festival of Choral Music, Northern Beaches Instrumental Festival and other community events. This year our 3-6 Choir will also be performing in the Combined Schools Musical - Mary Poppins Jr. Additional music opportunities include Tuesday Tunes, busking at school events, Band & Strings Music Camp, Solo Night and our annual Christmas Concert.

Joining our Music Programs
Recruitment takes place in Term 4 each year for the following year and it is not just for students in Years 1 and 2. We encourage older students to also think about taking up an instrument, understanding that they will be accelerated through the program if they progress at a faster rate to their peers.
To create a successful program we require positive parental involvement. Encouraging your child to practice and ensure weekly lessons are attended, really helps the student to progress and enjoy learning their instrument.
The Music Program is charged as an annual fee at the start of the year. Students who wish to leave the program during the year will need to discuss this with the Principal and fees are non refundable.
