Creative arts

Creative arts is mandatory for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of dance, drama, music and visual arts where they learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform.

Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.

Band & Strings Program - 2021

Elanora Heights Public School is very excited to be taking on the School Band & String Program in 2021. With a wide variety of extracurricular Creative Arts programs already offered at the school, we are looking forward to broadening the creative opportunities for our students by also including band and string groups. As a school, we value the arts and firmly believe in the importance of music in the curriculum. Being part of a music ensemble provides numerous benefits and opportunities. Not only will your child learn to play their instrument with their friends, they will also learn the skills of concentration, perseverance and self‐discipline.

We have recently commenced the Band and String recruitment process for 2021. Recruitment is not just for students in Years 1 and 2. We encourage older students to also think about taking up an instrument, understanding that they will be accelerated through the program if they progress at a faster rate to their peers.

Fi Brock and Mark Stevens will continue on with our successful string groups, and we are looking forward to welcoming Josh Hughes to Elanora Heights Public School, to lead our Training Band and Senior Band in 2021.

If you have any questions about Band & String groups in 2021, please send an email to our Creative Arts Teacher, Mr Jack Tier, using the school email.
